1. What are your primary beliefs and doctrinal emphases?
We strive to be Biblical in what we believe and in our doctrine. We emphasize expositional teaching, humble worship, and authentic relationships. We strive to be text driven, grace based, and cross centered. For more detailed information, please see our Affirmation of Faith.
2. What is the preaching like?
The preaching at CBC is expositional and exegetical. By that we mean that we take a literal, historical, grammatical approach to preaching in a verse-by-verse format. We try to take the Scripture and extract or expose its meaning. We do not let an external agenda drive our interpretation of the Text. That being said, good preaching doesn't stop with accurate interpretation; it must also be cross focused, grace centered, dynamic, relevant, humble, and exciting. The Scripture has everything that we need for all matters of faith and practice (2 Timothy 3:16-17). You will not hear men’s opinions on various topics, but rather a thorough explanation of what God says in his Word with an application to daily living.
3. What's the best way to get quickly involved at your church and make close friendships?
Make a commitment to become involved! Initially, it is easiest to get to know people through the smaller Adult Bible Fellowship classes and our Community Groups. Our Community Groups meet in homes during the week which provides a wonderful opportunity to study the Bible together and to share in bearing one another's burdens through prayer. There are also several church-wide times of fellowship and fun activities throughout the year, as well as men's and women's activities and meetings. We have many opportunities for ministry at CBC where you can give of yourself to minister to others.
4. What kind of music do you have?
Christ said that He is seeking those who would worship Him in spirit and in truth. We strive to be biblical in our musical worship. We seek to have a mixture of traditional and newer hymns and choruses. Our goal is to have music that is biblically correct and God exalting and that will minister to one another. Our church family actively participates in the singing and instrumental music. We strive to avoid a spirit of entertainment and performance; rather, we focus on a humble spirit of worshipping God and ministering to others.
5. What is the age group breakdown?
Our church family ranges from infants to senior citizens. We have many young couples, singles, and families with kids. Our body includes new believers, growing Christians, and many people who have the wisdom of years from walking with the Lord. You will find people in your age-group who love God and will love you!
6. I'm not familiar with a "Bible Church"; are you part of a denomination?
No, we are an independent church. Though we praise God for other churches in our area that are faithful to the true gospel, we, as an independent church, can act apart from a denominational or hierarchical structure, knowing that the church is ultimately accountable to God. We chose to call ourselves a "Bible Church" in order to proclaim to the world our dependency on the Scriptures.
